Triplets of Galaxies in the Local Supercluster . I . Kinematic and Virial Parameters
نویسنده
چکیده
We considered kinematic and virial parameters of a sample of galaxy triplets from the Local Supercluster (LS). The galaxies were selected from the LEDA database, and their radial velocities are no more than 3100 km/s. The sample contains 176 systems selected according to the Karachentsev criterion. We calculated the following median parameters of the LS triplets: rms velocity of galaxies with respect to triplet center, Sv = 30 km/s; harmonic mean radius, Rh = 160 kpc; virial mass, Mvir = 3.6 · 10 11M⊙; and mass-to-light ratio, Mvir/L = 35M⊙/L⊙. Although various investigators used different approaches to compile samples of triple systems, general properties of the triplets in all the samples we considered agree rather satisfactorily. The LS triplets have the least mass-to-light ratio as compared to other galaxy triplet samples.

Completing H I observations of galaxies II . The Coma Supercluster
High sensitivity 21-cm H i line observations, with an rms noise level of ∼ 0.5 mJy, were made of 35 spiral galaxies in the Coma Supercluster, using the refurbished Arecibo telescope, which resulted in the detection of 25 objects. These data, combined with the measurements available from the literature, provide the set of H i data for 94 % of all late-type galaxies in the Coma Supercluster with ...
متن کاملThe Pisces-Cetus Supercluster: a remarkable filament of galaxies in the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey and Sloan Digital Sky surveys
The Pisces-Cetus supercluster (redshift z∼0.06) is one of the richest nearby (z<0.1) superclusters of galaxies, and emerges as a remarkable filament of galaxies at the edges of the two-degree-field galaxy redshift survey and the ongoing Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We explore the extent of the supercluster on the sky and in redshift space, and map the distribution of its constituent clusters and g...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Optical Rotation Curves of Low-luminosity Spiral Galaxies
We present optical long-slit spectroscopic observations of 21 low-luminosity, extreme late-type spiral galaxies. Our sample is comprised of Sc–Sm Local Supercluster spirals with moderate-to-low optical surface brightnesses and with luminosities at the low end for spiral disk galaxies (MV 18:8). For each galaxy we have measured high spatial resolution position-velocity (P-V) curves using the H e...
متن کاملPulsating red giant and supergiant stars in the Local Group dwarf galaxy Andromeda I
We have conducted an optical long-term monitoring survey of the majority of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group, with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT), to identify the long period variable (LPV) stars. LPV stars vary on timescales of months to years, and reach the largest amplitudes of their brightness variations at optical wavelengths, due to the changing temperature. They trace stellar populati...
متن کاملStar formation in galaxies falling into clusters along supercluster-scale filaments
With the help of a statistical parameter derived from optical spectra, we show that the current star formation rate of a galaxy, falling into a cluster along a supercluster filament, is likely to undergo a sudden enhancement before the galaxy reaches the virial radius of the cluster. From a sample of 52 supercluster-scale filaments of galaxies joining a pair of rich clusters of galaxies within ...
